Bringing Books and Stories for Everyone

Summer time is the best time to read!

Summer is here – a season of freedom and endless possibilities. For all students, this is indeed an extraordinary time to take a break from school and their daily routines. It’s a time to unwind, rest, and recharge for the upcoming academic year. There are numerous ways to enjoy this summer season, from various summer programs, summer camps, and outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, swimming, and of course reading. Additionally, this is an excellent opportunity to explore and discover new interests by trying out new hobbies and experimenting with different activities. Why not take advantage of this time to nurture your hidden talents and explore your potential?

Have you heard about the amazing benefits of reading during the summer months? It’s simply incredible! Reading for just 15 minutes each day can help you to retain all that valuable knowledge you gained over the past school year, which will keep you ahead of the game when you return to classes in the fall. Not only that, but summer reading is an excellent opportunity to delve into new literary genres and explore topics that you’ve always been intrigued by, but never had the chance to fully explore. One of the best aspects of reading during the summer is that you have the freedom to choose whatever books speak to you and that you’re passionate about. Perhaps you have always been hesitant to read in the past because you felt like you were being forced to read something that didn’t interest you. However, summer reading allows you to discover new insights, enjoyment and helps you relax while you soak up the sun. So, limit screen time, grab a cold beverage, find a cozy area, and let your imagination run wild with all the incredible books that are out there, waiting for you to explore!

Are you a parent looking for ways to get your children excited about reading? Let us help you out with some great tips! First of all, why not try making weekly trips to the library or visiting the bookmobile at one of our community stops? Giving your children the opportunity to explore the shelves and choose their own books is a great way to empower them and get them interested in reading. You might be surprised at the genres that catch their attention – they could end up becoming avid enthusiasts of animal battles, superheroes, or Greek mythology!

As parents, we know how difficult it can be to relinquish control over our children’s reading choices. However, this is an important step in fostering a love of reading and building your child’s confidence and independence. Another great idea is to read together as a family! Not only will this give your children the benefit of your experience and wisdom, it’s also an excellent way to bond over shared interests.  Don’t forget the importance of letting your child see you reading. Our society has conditioned us to be busy at all times and often reading is seen as leisure or for other people. Reading is an important part of keeping our minds active and continuing to learn. Instead of your child seeing you looking at your cell phone, let them see you reading a book. So why wait? Try out these tips and watch your children’s love of reading grow!
